This work aims to expose how the Duolingo learning platform can be used as an effective tool in teaching Spanish as a foreign language - E/LE, , explain its functionality for the development of learning the four language teaching skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing), seeking to understand how this software can help teachers and others who have an interest in learning another language, as well as, to explain about the TDIC’s, the teaching-learning of the E/LE, of the four communication skills, of the resources on educational informatics, as well as, to make some indications regarding the importance of integrating the TIC’s in the teaching of E/LE, on teacher training in the use of TDICs, the importance of Duolingo as a tool to assist in the teaching of an LE, dynamics, motivational issues and gamification, and the structuring of gamification within the Duolingo. The methodology used in this study is based on bibliographic research based on theoretical references: Behrens (1999/2010), Moran (2007/2013), Duolingo (2016/2018/2019), Brasil (1998), Cardoso (2014), Molin (2010), Gonçalves (2014), Infojovem (2019), Damasceno (2009), Sant’Ana and Carvalho (2015), Arrarte and Villapadierna (2001), Paiva (2016), Salinas; Cabrera and Ríos (2012), Alcántara (2013), Alves (2009), Gadotti (2003), López (2015), Araújo (2017), Molla and Valles (2001), Reynolds (2013), Ciscati (2014), Martínez (2005), Fraga (2018), Rollinson (2018), Fernandez (2011), Pajak (2019), MCER (2002), Pinto et al., (2016), Fonseca (2010), Sbarai (2013), Exame.com (2019), Gerhardt and Tolfo (2009), Almeida; González and Lima (2018), López and Pinto (2010), Santos (2019), Aguirre (2016-2017), EasyLMS (2019), Valenzuela; Muñoz and Levinao (2018), and in a field investigation, carried out with fourteen students of the 1st year “B” of the middle school of the E.E.E.F.M. São Francisco Xavier, in the city of Abaetetuba-PA, such research was carried out in three phases: in the first one, the review of questionnaire number 01 was carried out, in the second the application of the teachings in the Duolingo in the computer lab began and in the third one, questionnaire number 02 was executed. With the work carried out, it was found that the use of this platform contributes effectively to the teaching / learning of the E / LE, because it is free and innovative, it is structured as a game, easy and practical to use, which promotes interest, the attractiveness motivation in the apprentice.
