| dc.description.abstract | The article titled "The Childhood of Labor: ‘Chão dos Lobos’ from the Perspective of Candoca, Raimundinho, and Roberta” aims to understand the representation of child labor in the novel by Dalcídio Jurandir, analyzing its influence on three characters. To that end, the study investigates family structure, objective socioeconomic conditions, and each character’s individual outlook within the narrative. In doing so, it required an engagement with concepts such as cultural capital, symbolic power, social capital, among others, as well as discussions surrounding childhood and child labor. Right from the start, it becomes clear that the characters hold different perspectives on labor: Candoca is a poor boy who works from an early age to support his family; Raimundinho is a talented young man with mathematical skills, yet confined to working as a pastry seller due to lack of educational opportunities; Roberta, on the other hand, represents a girl who transitions from school to early labor in a factory. Thus, the research highlights that child labor in the novel is not merely a narrative element, but a mechanism of social critique. Therefore, the interpretation presented in the article seeks to emphasize the importance of literature as a tool for understanding and questioning the exploitation of children, fostering reflections on its persistence in contemporary society. | |
| dc.description.resumo | O artigo intitulado "As infâncias do labor: ‘Chão dos Lobos’ sob a perspectiva de Candoca, Raimundinho e Roberta” objetiva compreender a representação do trabalho infantil no romance de Dalcídio Jurandir, analisando sua influência sobre três personagens. Para isso, o estudo investiga a estrutura familiar, as condições objetivas socioeconômicas e as perspectivas de cada um dentro da obra. Para tal feito, foi necessário aproximações a conceitos como capital cultural, poder simbólico, capital social, entre outros, além de discussões sobre infância e trabalho infantil. Logo de imediato, é possível notar que os personagens apresentam perspectivas diferentes em relação ao trabalho: Candoca é um menino pobre que trabalha desde cedo para sustentar sua família; Raimundinho é um jovem talentoso com habilidades matemáticas, porém limitado a ser um vendedor de pastéis, por falta de oportunidades educacionais; já Roberta, representa uma menina que transita da escola para o trabalho precoce na fábrica. Dessa forma, a pesquisa evidencia que o trabalho infantil no romance não é apenas um elemento narrativo, mas um mecanismo de denúncia social. Portanto, a leitura empreendida pelo artigo busca reforçar a importância da literatura como instrumento de compreensão e problematização da exploração infantil, promovendo reflexões sobre sua persistência na sociedade atual. | |
