The present work aims to present the importance of the cultural component in Spanish as a foreign language (E/LE) classes, as a way to develop communicative competence, overcoming racism, xenophobia, in short, the formation of citizenship . We noticed during the internship I, the little use of the cultural component in the classes and when this was used it was presented in isolation to the teaching of the language, that motivated us to do an investigation about this element and its contributions for teaching the Spanish. To address the cultural component we rely on the ideas of Miquel and Sanz (1992), Melero Abadía (2000), Huelva (2015), Briz (2000), Perrenoud (2002), Almeida Filho (2013), and others; Finally, we challenge ourselves to suggest a methodological proposal for the 9th year of the fundamental teaching of the "São João Batista" school, using the cultural component of fiestas. At the end of this work we conclude that it is possible to improve the way of working the cultural component in the school teaching practice. The results obtained after various reflections about the cultural component use in Spanish classes was that there are many advantages such as respect for differences, and many others.
