| dc.description.abstract | This study analyzes the image of librarians in films, focusing on those that break traditional stereotypes, aiming for a critical analysis of representations in cinema, beyond the clichés commonly associated with the profession. The general objective of this study is to critically analyze the representation of librarians in cinema, going beyond the clichés commonly associated with the profession. The research is based on the analysis of three films: Columbus (2017), The Mummy (1999), and The Time Traveler's Wife (2009). With a qualitative and exploratory approach, the characteristics of the librarian characters, their relationship with knowledge, and the symbols associated with the profession are investigated. The results indicate that, although cinema still perpetuates certain stereotypes, there is a growing trend in the construction of more diverse and realistic representations, reflecting the evolution of the librarian's role in contemporary society. It is concluded that, although some stereotypes persist, there is a growing trend in the creation of more diverse and realistic librarian characters. These representations show how the librarian profession has been reinterpreted in cinema, moving away from conventional portrayals and reinforcing the relevance of the professional in contemporary intellectual and social-cultural dynamics, contributing to deconstructing the traditional image of Library Science in the social imagination. | |
| dc.description.resumo | Este estudo analisa a imagem dos bibliotecários em filmes, focando naquelas que rompem com estereótipos tradicionais, visando uma análise crítica das representações no cinema, além dos clichês comumente associados à profissão. O objetivo geral deste estudo é analisar criticamente a representação dos bibliotecários no cinema, indo além dos clichês comumente associados à profissão. A pesquisa baseia-se na análise de três filmes: Columbus (2017), A Múmia (1999) e Te Amarei Para Sempre (2009). Com uma abordagem qualitativa e exploratória, investigam-se as características dos personagens bibliotecários, sua relação com o conhecimento e os símbolos associados à profissão. Os resultados indicam que, embora o cinema ainda perpetue certos estereótipos, há uma tendência crescente na construção de representações mais diversificadas e realistas, refletindo a evolução do papel do bibliotecário na sociedade contemporânea. Conclui-se que, apesar de alguns estereótipos persistirem, há uma tendência crescente na construção de personagens bibliotecários mais diversificados e realistas. Essas representações mostram como a profissão de bibliotecário tem sido reinterpretada no cinema, afastando-se das representações convencionais e reforçando a relevância do profissional no cenário contemporâneo, tanto no âmbito intelectual quanto nas dinâmicas sociais e culturais, contribuindo para desconstruir a visão tradicional da Biblioteconomia no imaginário social. | |
