Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/jspui/handle/prefix/7525This research aimed to investigate how the concept of environment and environmental education were focused on from 2014 to 2016 in the Portugal and São Sebastião Kindergarten and Elementary Education Municipal schools, both located on the Guajará River, in the municipality of Curralinho/PA. The research used a qualitative approach and the study method was the comparative study. As instruments for data collection, the techniques of direct observation of daily school life were used; documentary analysis of Political Pedagogical Projects, Course Plans, Minutes of Meetings, Occurrence Books, Class Diaries, Class Plans, Projects, posters, photographs and semi-structured interviews. For this research, 10 subjects who supported this work were analyzed, being eight teachers and two pedagogical coordinators. For the theoretical foundation of this research, we used the works by Freire (1987), Freire (1996), Brandão (2007) and Loureiro (2012), and laws that provide the regulation of Environmental Education, such as the Federal Constitution of 1988, Law of Basic Guidelines for National Education (1996), National Policy on Environmental Education (1999) and the National Curriculum Parameters for the Environment (1997) (1998). The studies concluded that both schools presented educational proposals with characteristics of a traditional Environmental Education. On the other hand, it was also possible to observe activities, content, thoughts and actions that contribute to an ethical and transforming environmental education.
