Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/9074The present work proposes an analysis of the transition of sex work within the context of digital platforms, which over the years has gained prominence in relation to new social and intimate relations mediated by these online spaces, through a process of monetizing intimacy. Traditionally marginalized and associated with physical contact, sex work has found in digital platforms a new and promising dimension of activity, under the promise of autonomy, control, and safety regarding the labor aspects of adult content creators. The objective is to understand how social actors build their careers, establish relationships, and renegotiate the boundaries between what is known as traditional sex work and sex work remediated by digital platforms, through the experiences of sex workers on adult-oriented digital platforms such as OnlyFans and Privacy. The research adopts a qualitative and exploratory approach. The empirical study was based on semi-structured interviews conducted with five invited sex workers. The collected data were subjected to content analysis, allowing the identification of categories of activity. By analyzing the phenomenon of sex work in platforms and digital spaces, more specifically within the metropolitan region of Belém do Pará, this study seeks to understand the dynamics of their practices, which are experienced and narrated by the interlocutors. Furthermore, the results indicate that the digital transition is marked by the pursuit of stability, autonomy, and security. However, the digital environment imposes new labor challenges, such as the demand for continuous content production to maintain engagement and the need for self-management regarding the content creator’s privacy.
