Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8033The current scientific skeptics’ scenario is a global reality that, dangerously, may promote a wide delegitimizing of science towards society and compromise a tougher collective scientific thought. Based on that concerning, this study comes up with reflections upon the movie production Don’t look up, relating it to the role of a Biology teacher facing skepticism scenarios in one’s daily teaching practice. In this regard, this investigation aims to bring up discussion and fight against scientific skepticism, using the interrelation between different cultural expressions, more specifically movies and scientific knowledge. Methodologically, the study was carried out in three stages: (1) Movie immersion on Don’t look up, in order to soak all possibilities to find themes related to the fight against scientific skepticism; (2) systematization of produced dialogs and (3) dialogue between science and cinema, based in the approach of emerging interpretations of central themes established on the previous stage and how these discussions can be further contextualized in Sciences classes. In analytical terms, we assumed features of multimodal analysis established by Arzarello (2006) and the Textual Discourse Analysis –TDA (MORAES, GALIAZZI, 2006). Because of this process, four thematic categories came up: Politics and Sciences; Political Polarization, Social media e Sciences; Sexism and Sciences and Reliability in Sciences. The discussion over these categories with intellectual production in Sciences and Sciences biological teaching showed that scientific skepticism are categorized as a current and relevant issue, harmful and damaging people’s thoughts and behavior, whether individually or collectively, straightening behaviors and less but not least, putting health and people’s lives at risk. In this sense, it is crucial for Teachers and Professors promote a fight against Anti-Science movements in the so-called process of individuals’ enculturation, growing knowledge about scientific methods and their reliability, as well as fomenting critical and participative behavior, laid upon strict reasoning.Acesso AbertoNegacionismoProfessores de biologiaBiologia (Ensino Médio)CinemaPolarização (Ciências Sociais)Ciência no cinemaCinema na educaçãoDenialismBiology teachersCinema in educationScience in cinemaCNPQ::CIENCIAS BIOLOGICAS::BIOLOGIA GERAL"Não olhe para cima": o papel do professor de biologia frente ao negacionismo científicoTrabalho de Curso - Graduação - MonografiaAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International
