Waterborne transport stands out for its economic relevance, being responsible for approximately 80% of international trade; however, its dependence on fossil fuels contributes to the emission of approximately 2.7% to 3% of global carbon dioxide (CO2). In this context, the present study aimed to analyze the contribution of waterborne transport to CO2 emissions in the Port of Vila do Conde, in the state of Pará. This is a quantitative, descriptive, and exploratory research, based on a bibliographic and documentary survey carried out in databases of the National Agency for Waterway Transportation (ANTAQ), the International Maritime Organization (IMO), and the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT). The results showed intense vessel traffic, with 2,253 vessels recorded in 2024, 2,177 in 2025, and 454 in 2026, considering that the latter period corresponds to a partial analysis of the year.
