Thus, this work aimed to analyze the spatial coverage of vegetation and surface temperature, through the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and the Land Surface Temperature (TST), using remote sensing. The study area is located in the municipality of Tucuruí-PA, with an extension of 89.7 km². The study covered 32 neighborhoods, carried out based on images captured on July 28, 2024 and July 16, 2024. The satellite images, obtained by the Sentine-2 and Landsat 8 satellites, were processed and analyzed, subsequently the correlation between the indices was performed to determine the influence of afforestation on the reduction of urban heat. The results indicate that neighborhoods far from the urban perimeter have greater photosynthetic activity, while central neighborhoods, characterized by a high concentration of buildings, record high temperatures, intensifying the heat island phenomenon. The negative correlation between NDVI and TST (-0.70) reinforces the importance of vegetation for reducing urban heat. Regions with increased heat are examples of areas that can benefit from the inclusion of green infrastructure.
