Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/jspui/handle/prefix/6728Brazil has one of the largest and most diversified water resources on the planet, being able to benefit from vast rivers and hydrographic basins for the generation of electric energy, being this energy, low cost, easy transport and little loss during its conversions when transported to long distances, between hydroelectric plants and large distribution centers for consumption. In this context, this work aims to analyze the electrical energy from the physical-theoretical point of view through explanatory research on the four stages of the Electric Power System. The first stage consists of the analysis of generation of energy, exposing the ways of energy production in Brazil, with an emphasis on hydroelectric plants; the second stage reports the route of energy transmission over long distances using the National Interconnected System; the third stage refers to the distribution to large centers, with the use of substations, poles and transformers; and the last step addresses residential consumption, with daily aspects describing energy meters, circuit breakers, plugs, appliances and the energy bill.
