The study evaluated the efficiency of a sensitivity strategy during the practical classes of the Dietary Technique discipline. This is an experimental study with sample composed of 25 students from the undergraduate program in Nutrition of the Universidade Federal do Pará, enrolled in the Technical Dietetic discipline, conducted from March to July 2019, with the application of a questionnaire in the first and in last day of the semester, containing open and closed questions to assess students' level of practice and awareness of the topic and household waste management. For each class, a dynamic of awareness was applied that consisted of guiding students to separate the waste generated during the experiments and presenting the total amount with an explanation within the theme and the correct destination. The results showed that: in the first day of the semester, 48% of students stated in the questionnaire that they used the waste generated in their home, after the second application of the questionnaire, 60% confirmed to use the waste. 40% of students reported that they had never prepared recipes with full utilization of food, said they had prepared these recipes during the research. 36% began to worry about the food packaging purchased. The total residue obtained in the practical classes of Dietary Technique was 8.22 kg, of which were: 5.66kg of bark and stems, 1.55kg of oil, 397g of plastic, 189g of cardboard, 242g of glass and 136g of metal.
