Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/9497The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted public transportation systems worldwide, causing severe impacts on urban mobility and exposing pre-existing weaknesses. In this context, the present study aimed to analyze the public bus transport system of the city of Tucuruí, in the state of Pará, by comparing its conditions before and after the pandemic. The research sought to understand how the changes that occurred affected service quality for users. The methodology was structured in three main stages: first, a detailed survey of the transport system, including routes, fleet, schedules, and operational aspects; second, an evaluation of the available infrastructure, such as bus stops, accessibility, and road conditions; and finally, a comparison between the pre- and post-pandemic scenarios, highlighting the most significant changes in service provision, route coverage, and user perception. The results showed a significant reduction in the number of routes, fleet, and bus stops, as well as an increase in fares and the persistence of structural issues such as the absence of fare integration, low service frequency, and precarious stop conditions. Despite minor improvements, such as partial fleet modernization and the use of digital communication tools, the system remains insufficient to adequately meet the population’s needs. It was concluded that the pandemic highlighted the structural fragility of public transport in Tucuruí and reinforced the need for investments, integrated planning, and public policies to ensure greater resilience and quality in the services provided to citizens.
