Its objective is to analyze the presentation of pre-modern African content in these textbooks and to what extent their narratives engage with current historiographical perspectives. The research discusses the impacts of legislation, the role of textbooks in shaping historical consciousness, and presents debates on the coloniality of knowledge and Eurocentrism, engaging with authors who work from this perspective. To achieve this objective, a qualitative, bibliographical, and documentary research approach was conducted, based on a review of specialized literature on the subject and an analysis of 6th-grade elementary school textbooks.
