Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/6160This study aimed to describe the main biopsychosocial factors that positively and negatively influence the practice of breastfeeding. This is an integrative literature review, with a bibliographical survey carried out in March 2023 in the databases: LILACS, MEDLINE, BDENF and SCIELO, through the Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCS): Breastfeeding, Early weaning, Nutrition and Child Health, using the Boolean operator “AND”. Articles published in national and international databases were included, with full texts available, in Portuguese and English, and published between the years 2013 to 2023. In total, 15 studies complied with the established inclusion criteria, answering the guiding question about what are the determinants in the practice of breastfeeding, presenting as influencing factors, mainly, difficulties associated with the deficit in practical knowledge of breastfeeding, breast complications, lack of of support in the family and work environment, in addition to helpless health care, among other reasons.
