In the literature, the author from Pará José Veríssimo presents these customs where we highlight the insertion of medicinal herbs and vegetable fats in the treatment of diseases that in the plot are the main resources for the relief of the pain of the character Beltrana. Having said that, this critical review aims to analyze the way in which these medicinal knowledges are manifested in the Amazonian culture where we will have as a corpus of analysis the short story “O Crime do Tapuio”, by José Veríssimo.
