In this sense, it is important to understand the occupational repercussions of this experience for the child, with emphasis on the family social participation occupation. Thus, this research sought to investigate how the social participation occupation is presented, related to the family of the child victim of domestic violence. For this investigation, a qualitative approach was used, involving a case study with 4 children, in institutional care, in which the instruments involved a questionnaire, socio-occupational measurement activity, participant observation and field diary registration, carried out in a Shelter Space Bethlehem Institution. Data analysis was performed using Bardin's content analysis, which generated three categories: occupation, family social participation of children in institutional care; bond, family and other interpersonal relationships; the violation of rights in the "world of imagination", from them it was possible to understand situations of weakening or disruption of occupations of family social participation, however the maintenance of this occupation took place mainly in cases in which the child had the opportunity to go out programmed; as for the bonds, similarities and differences characterized the experiences of the participating children, however the bond with the mother, grandmother and siblings was significant in the majority, while the absence of the father figure among them was unanimous; attention was drawn to the desire to maintain an affective family relationship even when this network is characterized as an agent of violation, in addition to highlighting how the occupation of playing has become an important vehicle for expressing not only possible violations, but also ways of revealing the social environment and cultural context of the participants. Therefore, these findings proved to be relevant when they point out and explore ways for occupational therapists whose premise is the study and intervention in human occupations to be able to understand and explore the social field more and more, with studies based on an occupational perspective on experiences. experienced by social assistance publics.
