An effective alternative is the partial replacement of water with ice, reducing the temperature at the time of concrete placement. To assess the heat of hydration development, laboratory studies are essential, and Brazilian standards establish specific tests to monitor the thermal curves of cement and concrete over time. Thus, this research aimed to evaluate the effect of different ice contents on the heat of hydration of mix designs containing cements of interest to a concrete supplier focused on the production of foundation elements. The experimental study included molding two groups of mixes: three composed of CPII F-40 cement, sand, 0.2% admixture (0.72 g), and ice in proportions of 0%, 50%, and 100%, and three containing CPIV-32 cement, sand, admixture, and ice in the same proportions. The tests were conducted following the procedures recommended in ABNT NBR 12006:1990 (semi-adiabatic). The results indicated that all mixes with ice showed a reduction in heat of hydration curves compared to the mix without ice. The most efficient mix, when comparing the cements, was CPIV-32 with 100% ice, followed by CPII F-40 with 100% and CPIV-32 with 50%, resulting in heat reductions of 0.31%, 29.14%, and 0.31%, respectively. The tests using the Langavant Bottle successfully demonstrated the thermal performance of the mixes containing the cements of interest to the concrete supplier, allowing a preliminary evaluation by the company regarding the selection of materials for concrete mix design, aiming to reduce the heat of hydration in foundation elements of buildings.
