Social pedagogy is characterized as an action-oriented reflection with the purpose of promoting transformations. In this approach, pedagogues act as social agents of change, performing work connected to the family, community, culture and society. The professional's main focus is to exercise his role through education, contributing to the training of individuals and respecting their prior knowledge. The role of the pedagogue acquires a new character, in which his political and social function as a trainer of individuals is accentuated.
