The central problem of this research is to know what these documents talk about the changes aimed at teaching the English language, seeking to understand to what extent these documents are closer or farther in relation to the teaching of the language. Based on this research problem, the work aims to analyze the two documents in an attempt to understand the changes, proximity or distance between them in relation to language teaching. It is known that the National Curriculum Parameters (PCN) and the Common National Curriculum Base (BNCC) are the most important documents for the functioning of Brazilian Education. To better understand these documents, the BNCC was a document created from the PCN, being more specific because it determines more clearly the learning objectives of students, while the PCN are rules and procedures separated by disciplines and prepared by the Government Federal, however, are standards that are not mandatory by law. But the BNCC is a mandatory document in all curricula, whether for public or private schools, providing guidelines for learning objectives in the stages of each individual's education. It is a document that does not interfere with the methodologies used in each school, but that these do not deviate from the BNCC standards. In general, with this investigation, it was possible to see that there is an alignment between the PCN's and the BNCC regarding the teaching of the English language. For this, a bibliographical and qualitative research was carried out, based on some authors such as (Picanço 2003), (Celani 2000), PCN's (BRASIL 2000) and BNCC (BRASIL 2017) and others.
