They constantly exercise their cognitive, motor, and emotional skills through play, and when they do so within the context of traditions, they connect with the historical and cultural aspects of their communities. Thus, this study aimed to uncover what is needed to strengthen early childhood education in a quilombo community—the Quilombo de Pimenteiras. It is located 30 km from the municipal district of Santa Luzia do Pará (PA), where a qualitative study was conducted in the school environment, based on participant observation, field diary recordings, and interviews with residents. It is evident that the children still have some interest in traditional Quilombo education and in understanding their origins. The school’s teachers introduced some practices based on Quilombo traditions, but a list of traditions that have disappeared from the residents’ daily lives was also compiled.
