Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/jspui/handle/prefix/2559The limonoids are substances that are produced by the plants of the family Rutaceae and Meliaceae, are examples of classes of natural products that has been receiving a greater prominence in scientific studies in the last decades. It is now known that these compounds are responsible for a variety of pharmacological activities. The species Swetenia macrophylla, a member of the family Meliaceae, has been having its limonoids as the main focus of scientific studies, since they are related to the varied beneficial effects to health. In this sense, the phytochemical prospection with leaves of this plant was carried out in order to isolate and characterize new limonoids of this species. It was started from the selective extraction with cold hexane, in two batchings of 24h. After this step, the development of the a priori isolation methodology in Chromatography in Column by Wet Way was carried out, and then the development in High Performance Liquid Chromatography. The fractions after separation processes were analyzed qualitatively in both the liquid chromatograph and colorimetric reagents, these two tests not only helped to clarify the fractional components but also contributed to the development of the reverse phase and normal chromatographic method.
