This study aimed to characterize the temporal benthic macroinvertebrates in a estuarine muddy plan, in the intertidal zone, the Environmental Protection Algodoal-Maiandeua Area (Maracanã-PA). The samples were obtained in september and december 2011 (during the dry season) and march and june 2012 (during the rainy season). Have been found, 35,104 individuals divided into 48 taxa belonging to the phylum Annelida, Arthropoda, Mollusca and Nemertea, whereas 23 were common to both periods, 22 were restricted to the dry season and only 4 were restricted to the rainy season. The phylum Arthropoda dominated every month, declining only in june when Arthropoda dominated; in relative participation, the Tanaidacea Halmyrapseudes spaansi dominated in all months except in june when its abundance decreased, giving space for Annelida Tubificinae sp1. master. The highest faunal richness were during the dry season; now, the density showed a variety of results, with higher value in december (dry season) followed by march (rainy season). Diversity and evenness showed a similar pattern with highest value in june followed by september. The most important factors influencing the variation of macrofauna were mainly the pH parameter (for rainy season) and salinity (for the dry season), determining the most susceptible species to inhabit the environment under such conditions; whereas in the dry season, there is a predominance of Arthropodas, and in the rainy season the number of Annelidas was higher. The results showed that climate changes determined variations in descriptors: specific composition, richness and density of the macrofauna of the mud flat in the Algodoal island.
