The present work aims to verify the prevalence of coronary dental lesions in digital periapical radiographic exams of patients in a Radiological Clinic, correlating the variables of age, gender and the involved tooth. The research sample consisted of periapical radiographic exams with an image of dental lesions suggestive of: caries, tooth wear (abrasion, attrition and erosion), coronary fracture, pulp nodule and pulp mineralization. The data obtained were tabulated using the Microsoft Office Excel and Bioestat 5.0 programs at a 5% significance level. Of the examinations evaluated, 719 radiographs showed images of coronary dental lesions, one or more, corresponding to 302 patients, 186 (61.6%) female and 116 (38.4%) male. The number of lesions present was more frequent in teeth with an image suggestive of caries (46.1%), followed by tooth wear (24.9%). The most affected age group was 41 to 50 years old, with a total of 179 injuries, with more frequent dental wear in males. Thus, it was possible to conclude that the radiographic image of caries was the most prevalent alteration, the teeth most affected were the upper central incisors.
