Acesso em:.http://bdm.ufpa.br/jspui/handle/prefix/1396This work considers the challenges of sustainable development in the Brazilian Amazon, which is on the agenda of development linked to the exploitation of natural resources, with contradictory state policies, cutting the municipality of Santo Antônio do Tauá in two communities with different socio-spatial trajectories to understand the relation of the peasantry to sustainable development. It is also analyzed the extent to which peasant agricultural practices often considered as unsustainable in fact respond to forest degradation and water resources in the developmental territories of regional peasant agriculture. Methodologically, field visits and semi-structured interviews with farmers are used to understand the processes of sustainability of agrosystems, besides the theoretical mobilization of agricultural trajectories in the Amazon and subjects in the field.
