Were used in our research studies by Eduardo Vieira Martins (2005), Marcelo Peloggio (2006) and Eduardo França (2013), who present works about the reception of José de Alencar. The historical novel by Manuel Pinheiro Chagas, entitled A Virgem Guaraciaba (1866), was also analyzed for its narrative importance with regard to the treatment of local color and its definitions about indigenous customs. Through the examination of primary sources, we sought to show the interests and dialogues that the criticism of Portugal carried out around José de Alencar, evidencing that the Lusitanian reception was based on the needness by a literary autonomy through local color.Acesso AbertoRecepção críticaJosé de AlencarRelações luso-brasileirasManuel Pinheiro ChagasSéculo XIXCritical receptionLuso-Brazilian relationship19th centuryCNPQ::LINGUISTICA, LETRAS E ARTES::LETRAS::TEORIA LITERARIAA recepção crítica de José de Alencar em Portugal na segunda metade do século XIXTrabalho de Curso - Graduação - ArtigoAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazil
