Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/9162This article reports the experiences of an outreach project that brought together faculty and students from the Veterinary Medicine and Pedagogy programs at the Federal University of Pará (UFPA) and families from the Nova Esperança Settlement, Pará. The objective of this work is to describe the exchange of experiences that occurred during the meetings and activities carried out within the project. The methodology adopted was based on the principles of popular education. The meetings took place in the Nova Esperança Settlement, located in the municipality of Castanhal, Pará. The activities included lectures on pet care, a bio-jewelry workshop, and a literacy course for young people and adults. It is believed that extramural activities promoted through outreach projects allow students to complement their academic training as health professionals while also fostering health, environmental, and educational initiatives. These initiatives facilitate access to information for rural populations, who often have limited access to knowledge. This experience enabled the collective construction of new perspectives on care, environmental education, and literacy, promoting knowledge exchange between university participants, rural communities, and social movements. Such interactions contributed to expanding autonomy and social participation based on popular knowledge and traditions.
