It can be classified into two types: non-melanoma and melanoma. The most common form is non-melanoma, which has a low lethality rate and includes squamous cell and basal cell carcinoma. The most aggressive, rare and lethal form is melanoma, although when detected early, the prognosis is favorable for cure in over 90%. Assuming that skin cancer is multifactorial and is influenced by biological, social and behavioral variables, studies that analyze these patterns in the Amazon region are necessary, because despite having a lower incidence of skin cancer than other regions, there are aspects presented by this population that favor the increase in the number of cases in this region, combined with the fact that there is a high incidence of sunlight in this part of the Brazilian territory, in addition to the lack of specialized services and professionals trained to perform the diagnosis. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the biological, social and behavioral patterns related to skin cancer in the Trans-Amazonian region, as well as to analyze the characteristics of these patterns in relation to health indicators and to determine the risk factors considered most important. METHODOLOGY: This is a cross-sectional, quantitative study, conducted through the application of a questionnaire in five municipalities in the Trans-Amazonian region (n=1014), based on the application of a structured questionnaire, aiming to obtain information on lifestyle habits, social and biological patterns. The K-means clustering algorithm was used, dividing the sample by clustering. RESULTS: Two groups were obtained, in which group 1 consists of young, white people, with brown hair and less predominance of skin spots, but who are exposed to the sun between 10 am and 4 pm. Group 2 consists of older, brown people, who are exposed to the sun at times that are not recommended and due to work issues. CONCLUSION: It was inferred that the two groups are subject to different risks, despite the low rate of use of items that act in the prevention of skin cancer.
