First, we deal with the main atomic models as well as the scientists responsible for each of them. We approach the classical view of particle and radiation, and the quantum nature of light. We emphasize the idea of photon proposed by Planck to describe the problem of emission and absorption of light and we relate the electronic layers of the atoms to the magnetic properties of the materials, which we use in our daily life. We describe the photoelectric effect, in which again the photon proposal was fundamental in the comprehension of this phenomenon. We relate the atomic spectrum of lines with the energy levels proposed by Bohr in his atomic model.
