Orientador: Pedro Paulo Maia Teixeira.2024. 19f. Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/jspui/handle/prefix/7157A Girolando cow was treated at the Veterinary Hospital of the Institute of Veterinary Medicine of the Federal University of Pará, Campus de Castanhal, with clinical signs and a history of probable esophageal obstruction due to ingestion of a foreign body. On clinical examination, there were cardiorespiratory and digestive changes. Flexible endoscopy via the nasoesophageal route and a video-assisted ruminosotomy technique using an endotracheal cannula were performed. In the first, a 1.5 m long endoscope with 9.8 mm diameter (Endovision GDI® Ribeirão Preto, Brazil) was used via the right nostril. In the second, a rigid endoscope (Wi-Fi Optics 10 mm in diameter and 32.5 cm long, GDI, Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo, Brazil) connected to a mobile device, using two 10 mm trocars. In the esophagus, hyperemic spots were observed. In the abdominal cavity, areas of adhesions were revealed. In the rumen, there was compaction of the pre-stomachs. Through the endotracheal cannula, it was possible to perform transfaunation and administration of liquid, temporarily improving the patient's clinical condition, which worsened and died due to complications associated with aspiration of contents and diffuse peritonitis caused by a perforating metal body. However, flexible nasoesophageal endoscopy contributed by providing valuable information regarding the real condition of the esophagus, and ruminosotomy using an endotracheal cannula proved to be useful, feasible and efficient, as well as an alternative for cases of recurrent bloating.
