This sensor consists of five layers: prism, SiO2, graphene, dielectric sample and air, with the graphene layer having infinitesimal thickness. The Finite Element Method (FEM) is used to analyze the electromagnetic response of the sensor using the COMSOL Multiphysics 5.3a software. First, a sensor, in the Otto configuration, is considered for model validation and comparison with data available in the literature. Then we investigate the reflectivity responses and electromagnetic field responses of a sensor in the Kretschmann configuration, for the case without a dielectric sample and after inserting one, where the size of the thickness of this sample was varied to analyze the differences in the sensor response. The results show some similarities between graphene in terahertz and metallic optical sensors.
