As an alternative method, the present work proposes the tannin concentration as indicator of palaeo-mangrove. In order to check this hypothesis, the tannin concentrations were determinate in two sediment cores from Macapá-Amapá and Marajó Island-Pará. These cores were studied by pollen analysis and tannin concentration.
