Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/10022This study comparatively analyzes the information retrieval characteristics of the TJPA and TJAM case law databases, considering their relationship to access regarding the legal information made available by the courts. A qualitative approach was adopted exploratory, descriptive, and comparative in nature carried out through bibliographic and documentary research and the systematic observation of digital platforms. The results indicate that both platforms contribute to the availability of legal information and to institutional transparency. However, it was found that the TJPA case law database offers a wider variety of search mechanisms, better integration of search features, and greater capacity for refining searches. Although the TJAM platform performs satisfactorily, it showed less flexibility for searches requiring more specific strategies. Therefore, access to legal information depends not only on the availability of judicial decisions but also on the quality of information organization, representation, and retrieval, demonstrating the importance of Information Science's contribution to improving access to case law databases.
