Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/jspui/handle/prefix/7867This study aims to analyze the clinical-epidemiological profile of patients with Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors (GIST) diagnosed and treated at the General Surgery and Digestive System Service - UCGAD/HUJBB/UFPA and High Complexity Oncology Unit - UNACON HUJBB/UFPA during the period from 2022 to 2023. It is a retrospective descriptive-analytical research with a cross-sectional design that uses information from medical records of the Medical Archives and Statistics Department of the João de Barros Barreto University Hospital - HUJBB/UFPA. The analyzed epidemiological variables include age, sex, birthplace/provenance, marital status, education level, profession, while clinical variables include tumor topography, classification and biological behavior of the tumor, signs and symptoms, histological type, and treatment of patients attended at HUJBB. The research used the CID-10 codes D-37, C-18, and C-16 and their subdivisions. Given the growth of this neoplasm and its peculiarities, it is essential to understand its characteristics in a regional context, especially in the Northern region of Brazil. Regarding the results, the study shows a predominance of male patients n = 3, with no worse prognosis related to sex found. IJzerman et al (2022) and all cases are of brown race/color n = 4, contrary to the literature, where black men and white men are the majority according to Tran et al (2005). Regarding provenance, most belong to the Northeast of Pará n = 4. The most prevalent tumor site was the stomach GIST, agreeing with literature reporting 60% of cases. The study presented a size of 13.4 cm in its largest axis, above the average according to Fletcher et al (2002). The most prevalent reported symptoms were abdominal pain (n = 4), followed by hematemesis (n = 3) in accordance with Silva et al (2018). The histological type was fusocellular n = 4 being the most prevalent with no mixed cases, and one epithelioid case, following the distribution according to Waengertner (2011); Ministry of Health (2013). Surgical and surgical with imatinib approaches were the therapeutic choices detected in the study, corroborating with the presented studies (LEITE et al, 2023). The detailed analysis of the clinical-epidemiological profile of gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) in this study seeks to analyze the characteristics comprehensively, allowing the identification of region-specific features in the Northern region of Brazil, as well as the diagnostic and treatment difficulties, contributing to an understanding of GIST in the Northern region.
