Many studies on PD have been carried out, but the disease remains a major research challenge. The significant increase in its incidence expected for the next decades strengthens the need to build new methods and treatments. The symptoms of the disease induce a progressive impairment of the affected person's functionality, with a reduction in the ability to perform activities of daily living (ADLs). Given the wide variability of symptomatic presentation, individual assessments are relevant for intervention strategies in the management of PD. Scales, questionnaires and forms are widely used in clinical practice, and their functionality and psychometric quality must be proven before their application on a large scale. The Parkinson's Disease and Disability Self-Rating Scale (SPDDS) is a self-assessment scale that analyzes the impact of PD on the performance of ADLs. The present study aimed to translate, analyze and adapt the SPDDS for subsequent validation for application in the Brazilian population. Therefore, translation, analysis and adaptation steps were carried out with the help of participants belonging to two main categories: professionals from different areas related to disease management and linguistic and cultural issues related to translations; and people affected by PD, the target audience of the instrument in question. After careful evaluation and analysis, a Brazilian version of the scale was built with semantic, idiomatic, experimental, cultural and conceptual equivalence. The scale will continue for further validation in a sample of the Brazilian population.Acesso AbertoDoença de parkinsonEscala de autoavaliação - IncapacidadeSPDDSValidaçãoAtividades de vida diáriaCNPQ::CIENCIAS DA SAUDE::FISIOTERAPIATradução e adaptação transcultural da escala de autoavaliação da doença de Parkinson e incapacidadeTranscultural translation and adaptation of the parkinson disease and disability self-assessment scaleTrabalho de Curso - Graduação - Artigo
