Therefore, this study aims to identify preservation policies and strategies, observe the obstacles that digital archival documents have in keeping up with the continuous evolution of Information Technology. According to the literature, digital preservation is understood to be essential for the long-term reading of archival documents to be possible while maintaining their integrity. The research is developed from a case study to describes the PIQL company, which aims to cross the theory of archival literature and the preservation process with the PIQL. Therefore, the company presents the policies necessary for efficient and effective preservation, as well as the OAIS: ISO 14721: 2002 model and the Brazilian Microfilm Law No. 5.433 and No. 1.799, regulations that guide the document preservation policies. The PIQL has a policy that ensures long-term continuous access quickly and efficiently. When it comes to strategies, PIQL brings a technology that avoids risks that some strategies have, such as between migrating obsolete media to current media, among other strategies. Technology somehow becomes a conservation of hardware and software, along with long-term storage support. As a result, PIQL becomes a big actor in digital archiving document preservation technologies, hired by several major film companies such as Warner Bros. Pictures and Walt Disney Studios, major banks such as Itaú, among others. In addition, it is one of the institutions at the head of the World Arctic Archive, along with other technologies institutions.
