Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8485This study investigated the diversity of species in the main açaí palm management modality practiced by riverside families in the Dom Romualdo community, in the municipality of Cametá, Pará. The study was conducted with seven farmers from the floodplain area, using qualitative research through participant observation, with the information transcribed and analyzed by content analysis. The moderate management practice was identified as the most experienced by the farming families, considering its environmental importance and the strategies adopted to ensure the sustainability of production. The research showed that traditional knowledge, transmitted orally between generations, continues to be fundamental for management practices, although there is a growing incorporation of new technologies. The study also highlighted the need for greater support from technical assistance and institutional support to strengthen the adoption of sustainable practices, and that agroforestry systems are a viable alternative to improve production without compromising natural resources.
