Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8123This study adopts an exploratory, qualitative, and analytical approach to investigate the Tailings Dry Backfill (TDB) technology in the disposal of bauxite tailings, comparing it with conventional methods. The research explores environmental sustainability, technical and operational safety, and the applicability of TDB in industrial processes of other minerals. The research methodology included the careful selection of relevant papers, case studies and technical guidelines, offering a comprehensive and critical view on the TDB adoption. TDB is environmentally adequate, reducing environmental risks and impacts, as well as promoting the efficient use of mined areas by drying and confining tailings. In technical terms, the technology offers greater control over hydration and compaction, increasing the structural stability of tailings deposits and reducing operating and maintenance costs. The analysis suggests that, with adjustments, TDB may be viable for other minerals, highlighting its potential for innovation and mitigation of environmental impacts in the mineral sector.
