Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/9635Despite the advances in education over the last decade, women remain underrepresented in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) courses, especially in Mathematics and Computing. In this context, several initiatives have been developed to encourage the enrollment and retention of girls and women in these fields. However, many of these initiatives are conceived based on empirical motivations, without systematic monitoring of their impact, which may hinder the identification of effective practices and reduce their overall effectiveness. This research aims to provide and evaluate a set of retention strategies for female students in the Information Systems program at UFPA, Cametá Campus, grounded in the application of the Design Thinking (DT) approach. The methodological path was structured in three stages: (1) conducting a systematic literature mapping; (2) applying DT as a methodology for the creation, implementation, and evaluation of retention strategies; and (3) developing a guide on the use of DT in the formulation of retention strategies. The application of DT made it possible to identify the most recurrent difficulties faced by female students and to develop targeted strategies.
