This is the Carajás Mineral Province, being the largest preserved Archean nucleus, southeast of the state of Pará. It is composed of the Rio Maria, to the south and Carajás to the north, which are divided by the Transitional Domain. Data acquisition included the use of bibliography, facies analysis, x-ray diffraction and cathodoluminescence. The drills were carried out in the Serra do Rabo region to the southwest of the Rancho Alegre granite (2,743 + - 1,6) and at the southeast end of the Archaean granite star (2,763 + - 7), both neoarqueans. The Gorotire Formation is a paleoproterozoic unit with distinct characteristics of the Águas Claras Formation and presents red to brown colors with crossed laminations, planeparallel laminations, inclined with angles of 50 to 70 (subparallel), and massive structuring. The samples are textually and consistently, medium to coarsed sand granulometry, with subangled to angular grains, poorly selected. In this work seven sedimentary facies were described, resulting in an association of facies: alluvial facies. From the X-ray and cathodoluminescence techniques, the main constituents of the unit and its possible source area, respectively, were determined. The clasts, which are the target of the work, are of sedimentary origin, igneous and metamorphic, being the clasts of quartz of great importance, since they helped to infer the source of the sediments that was homogeneous, from nearchean granitoids of composition TTG, sedimentary, metasedimentary, igneous and chemical rocks.
