Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/jspui/handle/prefix/7961In developing countries, social housing programs such as the Minha Casa, Minha Vida (PMCMV; My House, My Life Program) have played a central role in transforming urban landscapes and providing affordable housing for low-income populations. Although these programs contribute to reducing the housing deficit, many developments are located in peripheral areas with limited access to jobs and public services. This can exacerbate socio-spatial segregation and restrict economic 5 opportunities for residents, raising questions about the program's actual effectiveness. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the number of housing units contracted under the PMCMV and the availability of jobs near the developments in the metropolitan region of Belém. To this end, machine learning approaches and linear regression models using the ordinary least squares (OLS) method were employed, incorporating control variables and fixed effects for municipality and year. Additionally, spatial specifications such as Spatial Autoregressive Model (SAR) and Spatial Error Model (SEM) models were utilized to capture shared socioeconomic and geographic influences. In this context, the study investigates the patterns of these developments' locations concerning job availability and how this dynamic varies across income tiers of beneficiaries.
