Based on the framework of decolonial thinking, it discusses how the work proposes decoloniality by inserting indigenous peoples as creators, protagonists, and bearers of their own knowledge, breaking with the Eurocentric tradition of opera and romantic drama. The text contextualizes the concept of coloniality, presents the emergence of decolonial studies in the “Epistemologies of the South,” and discusses how the remounting of “O Guarani” operates epistemic and aesthetic shifts, claiming the centrality of indigenous cosmologies in the construction of Brazilian theater. In the end, Ariano Suassuna's statement is reiterated: “Brazilian theater was born here,” reinforcing the need to recognize indigenous dramaturgy and aesthetics as a fundamental part of the history of national theater.Acesso AbertoTeatro decolonialColonialidadeEpistemologia indígenaDecolonial theaterColonialityIndigenous epistemologyCNPQ::LINGUISTICA, LETRAS E ARTES::ARTES::TEATROTeatro indígena e decolonialidade em "O Guarani"Trabalho de Curso - Graduação - ArtigoAttribution 3.0 Brazil
