The research sought to understand the main motivations that led women from Marajó to decide to move to Belém. This is an empirical study using qualitative methods to analyze the cases addressed and read the fundamental theories on the topic. The Life History method was used to conduct non-directive interviews with five women born in the Marajó archipelago. The main results indicate that factors such as the lack of socioeconomic structures and continuity of education, as well as family issues, may be conditioning factors that influence the decision of Marajoara women to move to the capital of Pará.
