Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/10027Study of the role of the librarian in the context of the global debate promoted by the UN 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals, going beyond the traditional function of organizing collections. Therefore, the general objective is to analyze the performance of librarians when facing contemporary environmental demands, considering their importance in building a more critical, informed, and socially and environmentally committed society, while looking at green libraries as initiatives that encourage sustainability. Methodologically, this is an exploratory, qualitative, and bibliographic research, based on surveys conducted in the BRAPCI and SciELO databases, as well as the CAPES journal portal. The results show the emergence and necessity of the "Green Librarian" as a professional who takes on a leading role in information mediation, incorporating sustainable practices into management and information services. By analyzing both national and international library case studies—such as the Taipei Public Library Beitou Branch and the Biblioteca Parque Villa-Lobos—it is evident that ecological action in Library Science is already a reality, helping these institutions become supportive agents and catalysts for social and environmental responsibility.
