Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/9035This research aims to present the identification process of the Police Inquiry documentary series, which belongs to the Public Security Secretariat (SEGUP) fund, on the custody of the Pará State Public Archive (APEP). As specific objectives, we sought to conceptualize the identification function; present and contextualize the SEGUP, APEP and the Police Inquiry documentary series and their identification process. To produce this research, the case study method was applied, of exploratory and descriptive nature with a qualitative approach and has, as sources of evidence, documentary research and the semi-structured interview with the server of the APEP documentation sector. A bibliographic review was conducted to construct the theoretical framework on the concept of identification, in addition to a bibliographic and documentary survey to understand SEGUP and APEP. As a result, it was possible to understand, through the historical context, the development of this documentation and to get acquainted with its institutions of origin and custody, as well as its importance to society. Furthermore, it is understood how the identification process for this documentary series occurred.
