Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/9883This study aimed to analyze the role of the Boi Marronzinho Sociocultural Center in the construction of counter-hegemonic cultural practices in the Terra Firme neighborhood of Belém, Pará, Brazil. Specifically, it sought to understand and demonstrate how the educational, socio-environmental, and Amazonian popular culture initiatives developed by the collective contribute to strengthening processes of resistance and community organization in a peripheral territory historically marked by socio-spatial inequality resulting from public sector neglect. The research is situated within the context of the impacts produced by the Tucunduba Basin Macrodrainage Project. This intervention has become one of the main issues discussed by the local population, as it has reconfigured the urban space and significantly affected residents' daily lives, as well as the social dynamics that have developed in the area over the decades. Ethnography was adopted as the methodological approach, involving interviews with local residents and participants of the cultural center, participant observation of activities carried out at the site, and a literature review on urban anthropology and political ecology.
