The motivation stems from the need to understand the structuring of archaeology within the institution and its impact on researcher training and archaeological heritage preservation. The methodological approach involved bibliographic research, documentary analysis of Pedagogical Course Projects (PPCs), and semi-structured interviews with faculty members. The main objective was to examine the development of archaeology at UFPA, identifying historical milestones, the inclusion of archaeology-related courses in undergraduate curricula, the establishment of a graduate program with a concentration in archaeology, and contributions to the field. The results suggest that despite the expansion of archaeology at UFPA, its presence in undergraduate education remains fragmented, with isolated courses in programs such as Social Sciences, Museology, History, and Conservation and Restoration. The lack of specialized undergraduate training in archaeology and the scarcity of infrastructure for field studies are highlighted as obstacles. The discussion underscores the importance of broader curricular integration and investments in laboratory infrastructure.
