Method: A literature review was carried out that was elaborated with bibliographic databases PubMed, BIREME, Science Direct and Google academic. Six articles in English were selected that showed techniques with advances and technologies in the manufacture of ocular prostheses. Discussion: Six innovative techniques were found in the literature for the manufacture of ocular prostheses. The first consisted in the manufacture a PPMA container to be used in printing with addition silicone to later make a wax pattern. To make the iris, a digital image of the iris was obtained and the sclera was attached in resin. The second technique was classified into two computerized tools, one with the BIO / CAD-CAM system and the other with a semiautomated system with sublimation transfer from the 3D printing of the eye iris to the 3D eye prosthesis. The third technique consisted in the rehabilitation of a patient who was a victim of enucleation, which consisted of making a personalized prosthesis, which the author presented two methods for orienting the iris, one that used a digital photograph, which anatomical measurements were made as and later they were transferred to the scleral wax pattern after the choice of a stock eye for the removal of the iris was made and placed it in the resin sclera. In the fourth technique, a pupillary distance meter was used to position the iris. The fifth technique consisted of painting the artificial iris button with the addition of ceramic pigments dissolved in monomer and polymer syrup based on Newton's color theory and the color triangle. Conclusion: It is concluded that this research allowed the foundation on innovations and technologies in the manufacture of ocular prostheses, which brought several benefits, such as the reduction of the time of preparation and patient care. Finally, this work is of great value for the scientific community and for those who are interested in the maxillofacial prosthesis, especially the ocular one.Acesso AbertoPrótese ocularÍris protéticaPrótesesEye prosthesisprosthetic irisprosthesesCNPQ::CIENCIAS DA SAUDE::ODONTOLOGIAOs avanços e as novas tecnologias na confecção de próteses oculares: revisão de literaturaAdvances and new technologies in the construction of eye prosthesis: literature reviewTrabalho de Curso - Graduação - MonografiaAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazil
