It is practiced by a multidisciplinary team and provides the child with assistance in the hospital classroom, bedside care and a hospital playroom. The aim of this research is to understand the difficulties and possibilities in the pedagogue’s role in caring for children in a hospital environment. The methodology is na integrative literature review with a qualitative approach. Data was collected from June to July 2023 from the following databases: Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo), as well as Course Completion Papers (CCP). The descriptors used were: hospital pedagogy, pedagogue, teaching. A sample of 10 papers was selected from the universe of 48 publications. The results show that the pedagogue’s duties in hospital, together with those of a multidisciplinary team, offer valuable opportunities, since the cognitive, intellectual and emotional development of hospitalized patients is notorious, while the difficulties of professional performance are related to the rights denied and the lack of a physical structure for work.The conclusion is that the pedagogue in hospital pedagogy can act in a humanizing and complementary way through educational methods for the clinical treatment of adolescents and children of school age, which drives them to bring improvements to their practice.
