Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/9207This study discusses the work of the pedagogue in the context of social pedagogy, with an emphasis on their role in the Social Assistance Reference Centers (CRAS). It aims to analyze information about the practice of this professional in this setting, expanding the understanding of their functions and highlighting their contribution to social inclusion, the exercise of citizenship, and the transformation of the realities experienced by families in vulnerable situations. The research is based on authors such as Freire (1979), Gohn (2006), and Libâneo (2007), adopting a qualitative approach through bibliographic research. The results indicate that the pedagogue plays an essential role in promoting educational actions, mediating conflicts, strengthening family and community bonds, and addressing situations of social risk. Within the CRAS, their work goes beyond the mere transmission of knowledge, also encompassing the promotion of self-esteem and the encouragement of users’ autonomy.
