Some studies have verified fish ecology in these habitats, but most in temperate regions and with adults. We collect fish larvae and juvenile associated with macrophytes in floodplain lakes and channels, within a sustainable development reserve, in Brazilian Central Amazon. Thereby, we demonstrate that the flood pulse is the main factor influencing the assemblage of these individuals, since there is no clear relation between hydrochemical variables (temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen and conductivity) and its distribution. In addition, we recommend the inclusion of larval stages in ecological studies of fish in such habitats as essential to understand the behavior of all fish fauna in floodplain regions. We also had the chance to confirm the importance of these macrophytes for the recruitment of larvae and juvenile fish in tropical floodplain lakes and channels, noting that these environments are equally relevant to the reproductive success of those organisms.
